Irrfan Khan Demise: Actor’s Batchmate Rohitashv Gour Is Heartbroken; Says, ‘He Was A Fighter’- EXCLUSIVE
TV actor Rohitashv Gour, who also happens to be Irrfan Khan’s batchmate, is disturbed beyond words with the demise of the actor. Speaking to SpotboyE.com, the actor recalls their journey together
Irrfan Khan's demise has shaken up the entire industry. Amongst many of them, happens to be Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain actor Rohitashv Gour, who was also Irrfan's batchmate. The actor spoke at length to SpotboyE.com and shared some of his pleasant memories with the talented man.
Here are some excerpts from our conversation:
Irrfan Khan and you were together in National School Of Drama...
I knew Irrfan bhai since 1986, that's when I joined the National School Of Drama. He was my senior as I was in first year and he was in third year that time. We were really close to each other. I was quite inspired by him because I had seen him in a lot of plays. Main unko apna guru maanta hoon kyunki realistic acting mein unka jawaab nahi tha.
How was he as a senior to you?
I always used to tell him, ‘Irrfan Bhai koi gurumantra dedo’. And he used to laugh, but at the same time he was extremely helpful.
Did you get a chance to work with him someday?
Yes, we did a show together called Rajpath which used to be telecast on Sahara TV and it was directed by Raja Bundela under Pryas productions. We worked together for a year on the show in which Irrfan played the lead role. I never thought I would have to recall those moments in this manner.
Did you try connecting with him after he was diagnosed with Cancer?
Unfortunately no, because Mumbai is a city where everyone is busy in their own life. People don't see each other for years. For instance, Sanjay Mishra, Tigmanshu Dhuila are my batchmates too, but it's been ages that I met them. However, I had messaged Sutapa Di when they were in London for his treatment. But I didn't receive a reply and I’m sure they must have been busy so I didn’t bother them again.
His last rites are done, not many could tell him a 'goodbye'...
It's damn unfortunate that we lost him in 2020, which is the worst year for the whole world. At this time, we couldn't even go to see him in his last days or attend his funeral. We can't meet his family or give condolences to them which is an extremely bad feeling.
Sadly, Irrfan even lost his mother last week...
Yes, a few days back, his mother also passed away and I feel he must be very saddened by her death. He had also turned philosophical from quite some time because I used to see and read all his interviews. In one of the articles, I saw him speaking about ‘Jeevan kya hai’. Every person in their life goes through such phases and I think he was also dealing with it. Also, his mother's death must have broken him. He was a fighter but he gave up.
The last thing you remember about him?
I remember him saying, ‘Mere andar, ek unwanted guest baitha hai jiske saath mera vartalap chal raha hai’ during promotions of his recent film. And that line was extremely emotional. But this is life and we have no choice than accepting that he is no more with us.
